Mehmet Karaören was born in Istanbul ( Turkey ) on May 29, 1953. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 1977. Between 1977 and 1981 he worked in building sites as well as completing his master's degree at Yıldız University, School of Architecture. During these years he spent a year in Rome studying Renaissance and Baroque Architecture. He became Ass. Prof. At Yıldız University, Department of Building Management and Housing Production in the Faculty of Architecture in 1981. He taught Industrial Housing Production, History of Modern Housing and at the same time he conducted ''Housing Projects'' in the design studio of the same department at Yıldız University. He founded ''Karaören Mimarlık'' together with Fatma Karaören in 1986. The company was named as Mimarch between the years 1989. He completed his Phd. on ''Housing Production in the Industrialization and Suburbanization Process'' in 1992 and in the same year he became Associate Professor. During the following ten years he lectured and conducted masters' theses. He resigned from Yıldız University in 2002 and devoted all his time to designing his projects. Today he runs Karaören Mimarlar Architects together with Fatma Karaören and his team of architects. |
